What is Vodacom Digital Accelerator?

Vodacom Digital Accelerator is a program that seeks start-ups that have innovative solutions and provides facilitation to take these businesses to the next level. It supports early-stage and growth-stage technology startups in Tanzania with innovative products and services. The program enables these potential startups to be brought into the market and become the next profitable, revenue-generating African businesses.

How do I participate in this program?

We have Online applications open to Startups, the applications will be reviewed based on the criteria set and the top 10 startups will be selected for acceleration.

When do applications begin?

Applications for 2020 cohort were open since 10 September and closed on 30 November

How do I submit an application?

You submit your application by visiting this link and filling in the form that will appear before 30th November.

 

I already have a startup, what will I get from this program?

Sponsorship
Vodacom will provide sponsors for the selected applicants who will act as mentors for the candidates.

M -Pesa for Business Services.
Monetary transactions and collections made on behalf of our incubated startups (for work-related purposes) will exclusively be done via Vodacom M-Pesa.

Vodacom Foundation projects.
The start-ups will have access to a segment of Vodacom’s wide-reaching active customer base for product testing.

Partnering in Corporate Social responsibility
Startups with a social responsibility focus on health, education, financial inclusion or human resources that can utilize their product /platform to support ongoing.

Technical support
Startups in the program will receive technical support in terms of hosting, software development, advisory, and integration.

Follow-on investment for Growth
Startups that do well in the program will receive follow-on investment to rapidly grow their startup across the country and in Africa.

Go to market strategy
Startups will receive help crafting their go to market strategies, growth strategies, and marketing strategies

What is the eligibility for this program?

  1. Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Applicants should have at least a functioning version of their product/service.
  2. Involve technology
    3. Should ideally be using technology or plan to incorporate technology into their product/service.
  3. Africa focused
    4. Startups should be working on solutions to relevant problems in the African context.
  4. Scalable Products/services should have potential for scale reaching many users or generating high revenues in the future.
